A SPECIAL charity concert is being hosted by Worcester’s mayor in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice.
Coun Dr Matt Lamb’s fundraiser, featuring the internationally acclaimed show Beyond the Barricade, is taking place at the Swan Theatre on Thursday April 16 at 7.30pm.
Acorns Children’s Hospice, the mayor’s chosen charity, provides essential care and support for children with life-limiting conditions and their families across the region.
Now celebrating its 27th year, Beyond the Barricade has thrilled audiences across the UK, mainland Europe, Asia, New Zealand and Australia. The show is renowned for its powerful and uplifting celebration of the greatest songs from musical theatre, performed entirely live with passion and authenticity.
The concert features a talented cast of performers, all of whom have played principal roles in the West End and UK touring productions of Les Misérables. The two-hour performance takes audiences on a journey through some of the finest music from both Broadway and the West End, culminating in a spectacular finale from Les Misérables itself.
Coun Lamb said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Beyond the Barricade to Worcester for the first time. This promises to be a fantastic evening of world-class musical theatre, and, importantly, an opportunity to support the incredible work of Acorns Children’s Hospice. I would encourage everyone to come along, enjoy the performance, and help us raise as much as possible for this vital charity.”
