Much-needed donation made to St Richard's Hospice in Worcester

A MUCH-needed donation of £1.500 has been made to St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester.

It was made by housebuilder David Wilson Homes, which is currently building houses close by at The Pearls.

Julia Wolff, trusts fundraiser at St Richard’s Hospice, said: “Each year the hospice team supports more than 3,000 patients, family members and bereaved people in Worcestershire. It will cost in the region of £12 million to run the hospice this year, which includes patient care and all the necessary support services.

“As a charity largely funded by its community of supporters, donations such as this generous contribution from David Wilson Homes are hugely important to us. It is only with the support of individuals, businesses and so many others that St Richard’s can continue to be there for patients and their loved ones when they need us most.”

David Wilson Homes’ donation was made through its Community Fund scheme via The Barratt Redrow Foundation. It is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.

Helen Lewis, managing director at David Wilson Homes Mercia, added: “The team at St Richard’s Hospice goes above and beyond every day and we’re honoured to support their work. Their dedication is inspiring and we’re committed to helping to ensure these services remain available for everyone who needs them.”

The donation will help St Richard’s Hospice fund its free care for patients, their loved ones and carers. The hospice relies on donations such as this for approximately 80 per cent of its funding, with the remainder provided by the NHS.
