Worcester residents encouraged to nominate people who make life better for Honours

NOMINATIONS for next year’s New Year Honours have opened and Worcester residents are being encouraged to consider nominating people who have made a real difference to life in the city.

Honours, including MBEs and OBEs, are awarded to individuals who have made outstanding achievements in public life, made life better for people in their area, or who are exceptional at what they do.

There is a focus on working or volunteering in the community, with Worcester residents who support the homeless and provide housing, or who focus on integration and interfaith work potentially in line for a gong.

Councillor Lynn Denhham, leader of Worcester City Council, said: “Our city is full of people who are dedicated to making a difference in their local community.

“They generously give their time to support others in their area, to put on events, to run meeting places and social events, and so much more.

“In many ways, these people are the foundation of what makes Worcester the amazing place to live, work and grow up that it is. It’s those citizens of our city that I would love to see nominated for a New Year Honour.”

For each nomination, a form must be submitted and at least two letters of support have to be sent in.

This year the Government are keen to receive nominations for people who fit one of the following criteria, getting Britain building, bolstering family security, local government and English devolution, and growth.

Nominations for Honour can be made at any time, but to qualify for the next New Year Honours, the nominations must be received by midnight on Friday 6 March.
