GREEN-fingered pupils have been awarded for their top class Worcester Show entries.
The city’s mayor Coun Dr Matt Lamb welcomed the winners of the Worcester Show schools section to celebrate their achievements at the Guildhall.
The popular competition invited schools to showcase their allotments and gardens, highlighting pupils’ involvement in garden growing and learning.
Judges assessed not only the quality of the gardens but also their environmental impact, educational value, and how much pupils enjoyed them.
Tudor Grange Academy took first place and won a class trip to Pershore College, including a guided tour of its garden management facilities.
The runner-up was Fort Royal Community Primary School. Droitwich High School were also rewarded for their entry. Both won new plants for their garden or allotment. All prizes were donated by competition sponsor Pershore College.
During the judging process, judges visited each school to see their gardens being used.
Schools also created an illustrated scrapbook telling the story of the allotment or garden throughout the year.
Their work was then presented in the Competitions Marquee at the Worcester Show.
Coun Dr Lamb said: “Congratulations to all of the worthy winners of this year’s Worcester Show schools competition.
“It was brilliant to see the schools put such hard work into their entries and enjoying their gardens and allotments.
“It was lovely to welcome the schools to the Guildhall and present them with their awards. Congratulations to the winners Tudor Grange Academy who will be treated to a trip out thanks to Pershore College.
“Any schools who want to be sent details of next year’s competition should email [email protected].”
Next year’s Worcester Show will take place on Sunday August 9 and will once again be a day for the whole community to enjoy.
