More than 50 cannabis plants discovered in raid on Worcester house

MORE than 50 cannabis plants were recovered from a house in the Cherry Orchard area of Worcester on Tuesday (September 9).

Officers from across Worcester’s Safer Neighbourhood Teams, led by Battenhall and Nunnery SNT, joined forces to raid the property.

The warrant was successfully executed following intelligence gathered around a suspected illegal cannabis grow at the address.

The teams used force to enter the house and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis. He has since been detained by Immigration Enforcement.

They then gained entry to an outbuilding where a cannabis grow of more than 50 plants was discovered on the ground floor, which will now be destroyed. Evidence of a harvested crop was also found on the first floor.

PC Phoebe Attwood of Battenhall and Nunnery SNT said: “Officers from Worcester and Warndon executed a warrant at an address in Cherry Street following intelligence around a suspected cannabis grow.

“One man was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis who has been handed to Immigration Enforcement and more than 50 plants were recovered.

“Cannabis grows can be linked to organised crime groups, whose activities fuel further criminality, including modern slavery. Tackling these operations is vital to protecting our communities and keeping them safe from harm.”
