A FUN family afternoon in Fernhill Heath has raised £2,700 which was handed over to St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester this week.
North Claines Parish Council chairman, Megan Farmer, handed over the cash to Jodie Brandwood at St Richard’s, confirming it was the highest amount the annual ‘Fun on The Brum’ event has ever achieved.
More than 300 bottles were donated for the tombola along with scores of raffle prizes and donations from stallholders offering goods ranging from fused glass to crocheted items and bhajis to brownies.
Donations to play on the variety of inflatables supplied by the parish council raised the lion’s share of the cash during the four-hour event on the village playing field.
West Mercia Police Brass Band provided a musical backdrop while a novelty dog show provided entertainment – along with a stilt-walker, robotic dinosaur and much more.
Megan said: “Each year we organise this event to bring villagers together and raise funds for local causes.
“In the past we have donated to Air Ambulance, Night Stop and Droitwich Food Bank and, as the popularity of Fun on The Brum increases, so do the donations.
“We’re very grateful to all the villagers and businesses who supported and all those who helped make it the best ever this year.”
