TWO people have been arrested following the rape of a 17-year-old girl in a Worcester park in the early hours of Sunday morning (August 10).
The incident took place at around 2am in Cripplegate Park.
Following extensive enquiries, a 15-year-old boy and a 31-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of rape. Both are in police custody.
A police investigation has now been launched into the rape. A scene guard is in place near the tennis courts while officers gather evidence and carry out forensic enquiries.
The victim was helped by two members of the public following the incident. They are described as a man and woman, both around 18-years-old. Police are keen to talk to them.
Detective Superintendent Tony Garner, said: “I understand that this news will be unsettling for the local community.
“Please be assured that we’re treating the incident incredibly seriously and are following all lines of enquiry.
“Enquiries are ongoing to obtain a description of the suspect and we will provide further information as soon as we’re able to. In the meantime, I would ask you not to speculate.
“You’ll see an increased police presence around Cripplegate Park and Pitchcroft and we’d encourage anyone with any concerns to speak to officers.”
