A TECH-savvy school in Worcester is officially ahead of its time.
The RGS Worcester Family of Schools – of which RGS Worcester is a member – has been awarded the prestigious AI Quality Mark Gold Award by the Good Future Foundation.
It is the first school in the UK to receive this recognition for its commitment to excellence in the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education.
Inspectors praised the schools’ innovative curriculum design, including the use of AI-powered resources such as Quizizz worksheets and scrapbook assignments that encourage pupils to engage with ethical considerations around technology.
Teaching and learning are further enhanced by teachers actively exploring how AI can benefit their subject areas, while inclusive tools, such as visual aids generated through AI prompts, support pupils with special educational needs.
The schools have taken significant steps to ensure that pupils use AI ethically, appropriately and effectively. Pupils are encouraged to use AI to support original thinking rather than shortcut learning.
Assemblies and other guidance explore the possible benefits and the negative aspects of AI, including bias and the importance of checking information for accuracy.
Executive head John Pitt said: “This Gold Award places The RGS Worcester Family of Schools at the forefront of education in the UK, highlighting its role in shaping the national conversation about how AI can be used safely, effectively, and ethically to enrich education.
“The RGS Schools are proud to be leading the way in preparing pupils—confident, curious, and equipped to thrive in careers which will all require an understanding of AI and technology. We are pleased to be recognised in this way because schools have to engage now, and we have to prepare our pupils effectively for their future.”
The RGS Worcester Family of Schools comprises RGS Worcester, RGS Dodderhill, RGS The Grange, and RGS Springfield.
