Worcester Show is going back to the 90s

IT’S back to the 90s for this year’s Worcester Show.

The event is being held at Pitchfork on Sunday August 10 and promises to be a day of fun, entertainment, food and community competitions.

This year’s theme, “I Grew Up in the 90’s”, invites visitors to take a nostalgic trip down memory lane while enjoying everything the family event has to offer.

The competition classes will once again play a big part and are set to be as popular as ever, featuring 14 sections and over 170 categories – from flowers and photography to handicrafts and culinary creations.

There are also fun and creative categories for children to showcase their talents – including 90s-themed sections. The “I Grew Up in the 90’s” theme ties in with Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum’s summer exhibition.

The Community Marquee will again be a highlight, designed and delivered by Worcester residents.

The Ukrainian Community Group returns with colourful displays and traditional food, while the Worcestershire England Filipino Association will be among other groups sharing their culture and community pride on the day.

There will also be a kids zone, sports and activity zone and fun dog show.

Coun Jabba Riaz, chair of Worcester City Council’s communities committee, said: “The Worcester Show celebrates our city at its best. Whatever your interests, there’s something at the show that’s perfect for everyone. You can enter the competition classes, sample local produce, browse the stalls, or simply sit back and enjoy the musical entertainment.

“To find out more about the competition categories head to www.worcestershow.org.uk – and don’t delay because competition can be tough in some categories.

“The Worcester Show always has a fantastic festival atmosphere – it’s a true celebration of our city’s community spirit.”

And this year BBC Hereford & Worcester is playing a key role in bringing local bands to the show.

The BBC Hereford & Worcester Main Stage will be alive with the sounds of talented performers, offering a wide variety of musical styles to keep the crowd dancing all day long.

Meanwhile, the BBC Upload Stage offers a laid-back atmosphere where up-and-coming artists can shine.
