YOUNG thespians at King’s Worcester have achieved national acclaim.
The school’s recent production of White Christmas has been hailed “a dazzling showcase of talent and festive spirit” in a National School Theatre Awards review.
The reviewer, who attended King’s Worcester’s production shortly before Christmas, described the performance as an “exceptional production” with “a wonderful display of talent and teamwork.”
There was particular praise for the performances from King’s Worcester’s talented young leads, who brought their iconic roles to life with confidence and flair, supported by an incredible ensemble who embraced the bold, big chorus numbers.
The review commended Tigo Marskell’s charismatic turn as Bob Wallace, Henry Friend’s comedic brilliance as Phil Davis, and Sophia Boyd and Bella Crompton’s charming portrayal of the Haynes sisters. Amelia Warmsley’s exceptional, scene-stealing performance as Martha was described as “a performance that would not have been out of place on a professional stage”.
Concluding the National School Theatre Awards write-up, the reviewer said:
“White Christmas at King’s, Worcester, was a triumph. It was a production filled with heart, talent, and holiday magic, leaving the audience with a renewed sense of Christmas joy. The combination of outstanding performances, thoughtful direction, and a palpable festive spirit made this a night to remember.”
Acting head Dr Alison Oliver added: “This outstanding review is testament to the hard work and dedication from all the pupils and staff in the months leading up to White Christmas. We are extremely proud of all our talented performers, as well as the huge team who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to stage this dazzling production.”
