Loved ones to be remembered at Worcester Lantern Walk

A HOSPICE is inviting the community to step out under the stars for its annual lantern-lit walk in memory of loved ones.

Returning for the seventh year, the St Richard’s Hospice Lantern Walk will take place at the National Trust’s Croome Court, near Worcester, on Saturday February 8.

Anyone is welcome to take part in the 1.5-mile walk through the parkland and enjoy light displays along the route.

Sofia Gunster, community and events fundraising lead, said: “Our Lantern Walk is always such a special evening whether you attend to remember a loved one, or just to enjoy the beautiful parkland as the sun goes down.

“It is also a way to raise vital funds to help us continue our free care for patients and their loved ones.”

Registration is from 4.45pm and the walk begins at 5.15pm.

Participants aged five and over will be given a lantern to carry and take home after, while the little ones will be given an LED wand.

Singer Hannah Mac will perform at the start of the walk, and to welcome participants back at the end.

Sections of the route will be illuminated, and paddleboarders from Bonkers Activities will create a glowing display on the lake.

The Lantern Walk is sponsored by Russell Meers & Gill (Worcester) Ltd Insurance Brokers.

Karen Gill, director at Russell Meers & Gill, addded: “This is our third year sponsoring the hospice’s Lantern Walk, and we’re delighted to continue our support.

“The teams at St Richard’s provide such wonderful care to people when they need it most, and it’s important to us to help raise the funds needed for this to continue.”

Adult tickets are £22 while children aged five to 17 are £15, and under-fives go free. A family ticket of two adults, two children, or one adult, three children, is £62.
