Almost 200 cannabis plants discovered at a property in Worcester

ALMOST 200 cannibis plants were discovered by police at a house in Worcester.

Police executed a drugs warrant at an address on Teme Road on Monday morning (December 2) and 189 plants at various stages of growth were found inside, as well as those being dried for illegal drug sales.

A 22-year-old man at the address was arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis and is in police custody as enquiries continue.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “This morning, officers from the South Worcestershire Neighbourhood Crime Fighting Team executed a drugs warrant at an address in Teme Road, Worcester following community concerns about the cultivation of cannabis.

“Upon entering the property, we found 189 plants at various stages of growth, including some being prepared for sale, which will now be destroyed as we continue our ongoing campaign to tackle illegal drug cultivation in the south of the county.

“Cannabis grows are often tied to organised crime groups, whose activities fuel further criminality, including modern slavery. Tackling these operations is vital to protecting our communities and keeping them safe from harm.”
