Public consultation underway on Sixways Stadium redevelopment

RUGBY fans can get a sneak peak at plans for the redevelopment of Sixways Stadium in Worcester.

Junction 6 Limited, new owners of Worcester Warriors, is inviting the public to view its proposals for the stadium and the surrounding area.

In November, Worcester Warriors formally submitted an application to the Rugby Football Union to join the new Tier 2, the second division of English Rugby, during the 2025/26 season.

As part of this journey, Junction 6 Limited have collaborated with a team of industry leaders to produce plans that will enhance Sixways Stadium for fans and create new facilities for sport, entertainment, health and wellbeing around the stadium.

The club is now consulting with the public on the plans ahead of them being submitted to Wychavon District Council later this month.

An in-person consultation event is being held on Tuesday (December 10) between 3pm and 7pm at the East Stand at Sixways Stadium in Warriors Way.

Members of the public can also view the proposals online at https://sixways.co.uk/ redeveloping-sixways/ and provide feedback through an online survey.

Key highlights of the proposals include redeveloping the north stand, growing the stadium’s capacity from 11,500 to 12,750, new community sporting facilities including a new medical and sports rehabilitation centre, a 120 bed on-site hotel, and a multifunctional events space capable of hosting conferences, banquets, exhibitions and other special occasions.

The development will create new job opportunities in hospitality, healthcare, and events, and aims to improve transport connections through a new multi-storey car park, enhanced cycle links, and plans to re-introduce shuttle bus services to and from the city centre and rail station on matchdays.

Stephen Vaughan, strategy director for Worcester Warriors, said: “We’re excited to reveal these new plans for Sixways and set the stage for a sustainable future for the club and its supporters. These new plans for Sixways, alongside the club’s recent application to join the RFU’s new Tier 2, demonstrates our aspirations to return to playing competitive rugby for the supporters of the club and the wider Worcestershire community alike.

“Feedback from our fans and local residents is essential in shaping our plans. We want to know how we can best meet the needs of the Warriors’ community to create a vibrant destination for sport, entertainment, and wellbeing that benefits everyone.”

The consultation closes on Monday December 16.
