CHRISTMAS is set to be extra magical on a Worcester housing estate this year.
Dines Green is planning a special festive celebration using some of the funds raised through a community event earlier this year.
Dinefest was held in October to mark the 70th anniversary of the housing estate and £2,500 was raised from an afternoon of fun activities attended by up to 500 residents at Honeywell Primary School.
Some of this cash will be used for Dinesfest Does Christmas, which will also be held at the school, on Thursday December 5 between 6pm and 8pm.
Santa and his musical sleigh will make an appearance and there will also be carols, Christmas gifts for sale, refreshments and a tombola.
The rest of the cash will be used for the return of Dinefest next year and for future community projects.
And Worcester City councillors for Dines Green and Grove Farm, Coun Robyn Norfolk and Coun Matt Lamb have each donated some of their divisional funding to the community event, where each child present will be given a small festive treat following their chat with Santa.
One of Dinesfest’s creative team, Tracey Donoher, said: “We promise lots of festive magic for the kids, with an interactive queuing system and lots of photo opportunities. This might be the only chance that some of our families will meet Father Christmas in person this year, so we want the night to be amazing as well as affordable.”
