Mass of cyclists to take over Worcester city centre at the weekend

THE CITY streets are set to be taken over by a mass of cyclists at the weekend.

November Critical Mass will see Worcester’s diverse bike riders get together for a spot of community peddling.

Critical Mass rides are characterised by their friendly, inclusive atmosphere, moving at a slow pace and embracing cyclists of all skill levels. The ride embodies organiser Bike Worcester’s commitment to foster community bonding, improve physical health, and create a more sustainable city.

Cyclists wishing to join in should meet at 10.15am on Saturday (November 16) at Cafe Viaduct on Grandstand Road.

Katie Collier, a regular Critical Mass participant, said: “It’s so brilliant to ride with friends. It’s perfect for anyone who is building up their confidence on a bike as there is safety in numbers. I’d fully recommend it.”

Cycling is widely recognised for its significant health benefits, ranging from cardiovascular fitness to improved mental wellbeing. By supporting events like the Critical Mass rides Bike Worcester aims to boost these benefits for all city residents.

At the same time, such cycling events play a vital role in reducing vehicle emissions and improving air quality, supporting Worcester’s drive towards environmental sustainability.
