Worcester book publishers begin new chapter with nature reserve management

WHEN it comes to managing a nature reserve, the new steward of Chapter Meadows in Worcester plans to do everything by the book.

Local art book publisher 3dtotal Publishing, has officially taken over the nature reserve located alongside the River Severn.

Previously managed by the Duckworth Worcestershire Trust, Chapter Meadows has always been a significant green space for the community.

As new stewards, 3dtotal Publishing – based on Foregate Street in Worcester – aims to enhance Chapter Meadows’ ecological value as well as promote community involvement.

In the coming months, the team will focus on key initiatives such as planting new hedgerows alongside existing ones to strengthen wildlife corridors, installing bird and bat boxes to provide vital habitats for local species and upgrade fencing to protect and manage the area effectively.

The initial focus over the coming months will be on smaller sections of the site, with plans to expand these projects across further areas of the site in the spring and summer of next year.

Looking further ahead, 3dtotal has ambitious plans to create rewilding zones, restore natural ponds, plant more trees, and establish community areas with seating and picnic spots. Engaging local volunteers will play a crucial role in these efforts.

The book publishers decided to take on Chapter Meadows as part if its drive towards promoting positive change in the community and environment.

Tom Greenway, director of 3dtotal Publishing, said: “We are thrilled to take on the stewardship of Chapter Meadows and we are excited to continue the wonderful work initiated by the Duckworth Worcestershire Trust. Our aim is to not only preserve this space but to enhance it for the benefit of wildlife and the local community. We invite everyone to be part of this vision, whether by signing up for our mailing list or getting involved as a volunteer.”
