Annual archaeology day to unearth Worcestershire's past

HISTORY enthusiasts, academics and curious minds alike are being invited to uncover Worcestershire’s past.

The annual Archaeology Day is being held at The Hive in Worcester on Saturday November 23 and promises a line-up of expert talks about the latest research, finds and projects from across the county.

This year’s schedule offers a diverse lineup of topics. There will be insights from Worcester’s new cathedral archaeologist, updates from the field and the remarkable finds of 2024, a chance to explore the Archaeology of Worcester in 20 Digs as James Dinn, former archaeological officer for Worcester, discusses his new book, and the opportunity to discover more about citizen science projects at the National Trust.

Worcestershire County Council’s communities spokesperson Coun Karen May said: “Our Archaeology Day is always very popular as it is a wonderful opportunity to find out about projects and digs which have been taking place, and inspire residents to engage with the heritage of their local area.”

The day runs from 10am to 4.30pm.

Tickets are £23 and can be booked online at https://www.explorethepast.co.uk/events/
