A WORCESTER housing estate is celebrating seventy years with an afternoon of food, talent and fundraising.
Dinefest is taking place on Saturday, September, 28 at Honeywell Primary School and is in need of local businesses, groups, and organisations to get involved.
The afternoon will also discuss the history of Dines Green, where the development of new homes began in 1954.
Rachael Hodgetts called a community meeting and proposed an anniversary celebration earlier in the year – churches, schools and residents volunteered to form the Dinefest Community Group.
Laura Cartwright is treasurer of the new community group, she said: “We have organised a range of features including Dines Green’s Got Talent, Dines Green’s bake-off, children’s rides, sports and eco zones, live music, cheer dance, games, arts and crafts workshops, and local history.
“Worcester City Council is supporting Dinesfest with a community grant, which was kindly matched by County Councillor Richard Udall.
“We want to keep rides and entertainment free or affordable for residents and there will be games, refreshments, a raffle and tombola to raise funds for future community events and activities too.
“The aim is to have something for everyone and to bring young and old together for the event.”
Organisers are keen to hear from organisations interested in supporting Dinesfest through sponsorship, a raffle prize, entertainment or a tradestand.
