WORCESTER’s medical school’s founding dean has been awarded a medal for contributing to an organisation which aims to advance education in healthcare.
Professor Sandra Nicholson, from Three Counties Medical School was given the Association for the Study of Medical Education President’s medal for her second and final term as chair ended.
The Association is an organisation which is dedicated to promoting healthcare scholarship and improving medical education and professional development for teachers and students.
Professor Nicholson, who served as the organisations Chair between the years of 2018 and 2024 said: “It makes me proud to receive this award.
“I’ve worked hard for ASME for the last seven years, but at the same time, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it.”
Karen Mattick, President of ASME, said: “I was delighted to be able to award the President’s medal 2024 to Professor Sandra Nicholson in recognition of her outstanding contribution to ASME over many years.
“Sandra’s term as Chair of the Board of Directors encompassed many exciting and positive developments for ASME such as the development of new awards, collaborations, and publications to benefit the members, as well as some very challenging ones such as the global pandemic.”
