A RETIREMENT village in Worcester has raised cash for a specialist dementia nursing charity.
Meadow Court’s residents and family, as well as staff from Platform Housing who run the village, raised more than £160 through cake sales, badges and a raffle.
The event featured a performance from the Worcester Ukulele Band.
This year, Platform Housing Group have selected Dementia UK as its corporate charity.
One in two people will be affected by dementia in their lifetime, either by caring for someone with the condition, developing it, or both.
Chris Pinson-Bradley, community engagement manager at Platform said: “This was a fabulous morning where we raised both funds and awareness for dementia.
“As a social landlord, we are always looking for opportunities to give back to our communities and this was a perfect example.
“Thanks for all those involved in making it a success.”
Statistics show every three minutes someone in the UK develops dementia and there are around 944,000 people living with dementia.
