Book shop to help more of Worcester's creatives after community revamp

Worcester Editorial 4th Apr, 2024   0

A COMMUNITY book shop which aims to support Worcester’s independent creatives has thanked those who helped in its bid to shine a light on even more city authors.

Script Haven on Worcester High Street opened in August and has since helped support more than 100 independent authors and artists by giving them a space to house their work and have it noticed.

Shop owners have also transformed the area into a safe space and community hub as well as hosting fund-raisers for many local causes.

However, the shop’s rapid growth left it struggling to provide space for more authors to house their books.

Bosses launched a Crowdfunder page to help pay for much-needed upgrades, including allowing them to relocate the shop’s cafe counter and install more book spaces.

It also wants to buy more equipment to help them to run more live and online events and charity fund-raisers.

The shop has been temporarily closed this week to allow new bookcases to be installed, as well as other changes to allow for it to host more events and charity functions.

In a Crowdfunder campaign people across the Faithful City contributed £470 towards the costs of the revamp.
