Worcester Editorial 15th Mar, 2024   0

WORCESTER bike lovers will now be able to plan their journey’s more easily with a new map showing where they can park them across the city.

The map will form part of Worcester City Council’s Active Travel Action Plan.

The plan aims to encourage more people to leave their cars at home and opt for walking, cycling or other forms of active travel such as scooters, wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

It is designed to support national targets which include ensuring half of all journeys in towns and cities being undertaken by active means by 2030.

Coun Zoe Cookson, Vice Chair of Worcester City Council’s Environment Committee, said: “There are so many benefits to travelling actively, it has been shown to result in a healthier, happier workforce, to increased productivity and reduced rates of absenteeism.

“It also reduces carbon emissions.”
