New walking football sessions to start in Worcester

Worcester Editorial 12th Feb, 2024   0

A NEW walking football session is set to come to Worcester to help more people continue their love of the beautiful game.

Strictly walking football will take place at the King George V playing fields on Ash Avenue between 11am and 12.30pm every Thursday.

The new sessions will be run by Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

The session is open to men and women over the age of 50.

It follows the same rules as the running game but is played at a much slower pace.

The first session will begin on Thursday, February 15.

Jan Blazak, who has supported the group’s development, said: “We want to attract people who are not currently playing, maybe nursing injuries, or simply wanting to dip their toes and test it out.

“It will run every week regardless of numbers and if we do not have enough for a game, we will do low-scale fitness work and drills as we build it up. We will do a proper warm-up and warm-down around each session, but mainly we will have a bit of fun and a laugh.”
