A PROLIFIC Malvern shoplifter has been hit with a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) barring him from all shops in the town as well as two supermarkets in Worcester.

Mark Spragg, 41, of Madresfield, Malvern, is also banned from entering any retail premises with Natalie Cull, 29, who was handed a suspended sentence for shoplifting in November.

The 41-year-olds order was granted on Thursday, January 4 at Worcester Magistrates Court.

Spragg must not enter any shops in Malvern as well as Sainsbury’s on Windermere Drive and Asda on Silver Street in Worcester.

Safer Neighbourhood Insp for Malvern Hills and Wychavon Dave Wise said: “This order, spanning three years, imposes strict conditions aimed at curbing Spragg’s prolific shoplifting activities, particularly in Malvern.

“The specified prohibitions, including restrictions on entering specific retail premises and associating with a named individual, are crucial steps to protect the local businesses that have suffered the consequences of their recurrent offences.

“The need for a Criminal Behaviour Order is evident as Spragg has demonstrated a pattern of aggression and abuse when confronted by store staff, leaving us with little choice but to take robust action.

“It is our duty to break this continuous cycle of criminal behaviour and instil confidence in the local community and businesses.”
