PLATFORM Housing Group has extended a £1,000 helping hand to Worcester Foodbank to help provide Christmas food parcels for families.

The donation is part of its annual Community Kindness Campaign which sees £60,000 donated to support various local organisations.

Worcester Foodbank offers year-round emergency assistance to those in need with crisis food parcels or ongoing weekly supplies.

The donation from Platform will ensure provisions extend to include the festive season, bringing relief to those in challenging circumstances.

John Weguelin, chair of Platform Housing Group’s Board said:

“Worcester Foodbank and the organisations we are helping provide essential support services to customers in the heart of our communities.

“When the cost of living continues to be a daily challenge for many, it’s great Platform can help families and children who are struggling this Christmas.”

Ruth Allsopp, operations co-ordinator at Worcester Foodbank said:

“We have seen demand for our services increase by 40 per cent this year at Worcester Foodbank.

“Without donations from organisations like Platform Housing Group, we wouldn’t be able to support everyone who needs us.

“As well as this financial support, Platform are a referral agent, issuing foodbank vouchers to people in their homes.

“This makes our partnership with them key in reaching those in need. We are very grateful for their support.”
