ORGANISERS of the Community Hub site – comprised of Oasis Hub Warndon and Oasis Academy Warndon came together with more than a dozen local volunteers to host a Christmas grotto with presents, festive surprises, and the chance to meet Santa for 600 children.

The volunteers represented the diversity of the local Warndon community and included local parents, grandparents, charity trustees, and an NHS worker, banker, and housing worker.

Fay Osborne, Warndon Hub Leader and Regional Cluster Lead for the Midlands, said:

“I’m deeply inspired by the creativity, enthusiasm, and love of our volunteers.

“They have come together to put on a magnificent Christmas grotto for hundreds of children in our local community.

“We run community programmes throughout the week including gardening projects, brunch clubs and much more all with the invaluable contributions of local volunteers.

“We strive to be a place where everyone can contribute, and everyone is welcome,” she added.

Sarah Tyrer, volunteer and parent said:

“I had the best time with everyone today decorating the grotto. It was a fabulous team effort. The children loved it! Thank you for letting me be part of it.”

“It has been absolutely amazing seeing the children’s faces light up when they entered our magical grotto and met Father Christmas” said Naomi Cooke, Head of School at Oasis Academy Warndon.

“We have all been blown away by what our community team and volunteers have created! Working together as a Community Hub site it feels like we have been able to bring some sparkle to the festive season!”
