THE WAIT was finally over for GCSE students across Worcester when they received their results and got to see if all their hard work had paid off.
Pupils discovered if they had got the grades they needed to move onto sixth-form, college, other training or employment.
King’s Worcester
King’s Worcester had a fantastic set of results, with 62 per cent of entries receiving grades 9-7.
In addition, 40 per cent of those grades were 9 or 8 and 30 per cent of this year’s cohort received ten or more top grades of 9-7.
Creative subjects were a big success, with 9-7 grades achieved by 90 per cent of pupils in Art, 88 per cent in DT and 88 per cent in Music.
Keen netballer Millie Dobson and gold medal rower Ellie Cartwright both achieved a clean sweep of grade 9s across all 11 subjects.

Other top achievers included Caitlin Clements, who got 12 grades 9-7 and Joseph James, who earlier this year was awarded a place in the National Youth Choir, and got nine 9s and two 8s.
Headmaster, Gareth Doodes said: “We are very proud of this group of devoted and enthusiastic pupils, who have delivered some remarkable results this year.
“We must not forget that from Year 8, the education of this cohort of fine pupils has been significantly disrupted by the pandemic, yet they have not been found wanting.
“Their achievements are testament to their unwavering dedication and hard work.”
RGS Worcester
RGS Worcester pupils, their families and staff are celebrating after Year 11 pupils achieved GCSE results which were ‘significantly above’ the pre-pandemic level.
Headmaster John Pitt said: “It was lovely to see the pupils so pleased with their GCSE results today.
“We had our largest GCSE Year group ever and we are particularly pleased by the number achieving the top Grade 9 across the different subject.”
John and his wife, Anna were particularly pleased after seeing their two eldest children completing their A Levels and GCSEs this year.
Their daughter Katy will be studying A Levels in Art, Maths, Physics and Spanish in the Sixth Form at RGS after achieving ten GCSEs all graded 9-7.
Last week, eldest son Jack found out he will be studying Engineering at Imperial College in London after achieving 3A* and 1A grades in his A Levels.
John added: “We are so proud and relieved at the same time.
“We now know what other parents go through with examinations and then the results and the pressures upon everyone.”
