Road in Worcester should be open 'by tomorrow morning' after water pipe burst

Worcester Editorial 17th Aug, 2023   0

SEVERN Trent said it expects Tolladine Road to be open ‘by tomorrow morning’ after a water pipe burst under the railway bridge, forcing the road to be shut.

The water main burst earlier today (August 17) with a diversion put in place via Sherriff Street to Newtown Road, Midland Road and Shrub Hill Road.

Due to the low bridge high sided vehicles will be diverted via Berkeley Way to the A4440 and London Road.

Severn Trent’s team is currently on site repairing the burst water pipe on Tolladine Road.

A spokesperson for the firm said: “To ensure the safety of our teams and other road users there is a closure in place, however, we’re expecting the repair to be completed this evening.

“We understand that road works can be frustrating so we’re sorry for any inconvenience caused and would like to thank everyone for their patience while we complete this important repair.”

Bus firm First Worcester has said due to the road closure, the 34 is currently diverted via Shrub Hill Road, Newtown Road and Sherriff Street in both directions.

The service will be unable to stop Station Steps bus stops.
