Evictions following drug and ASB related concerns at Worcester properties

LOCAL policing teams from St Johns, Bedwardine and Cathedral have worked closely with counterparts in Worcester Pro-Active CID and Platform Housing to address the anti-social behaviour and drug related issues in two locations in Worcester.

A flat in Broad Lea Close in St Johns, Worcester, was a considerable cause for concern with both disorder and drug related matters having been reported by local residents.

This included specific concerns regarding county line drug dealing at the address. Following warrants conducted at the property and individuals placed under investigation, the tenant was taken to court and was evicted by bailiffs with the assistance of housing officers and police.

A resident from Dent Close is also now due to be evicted following a litany of complaints from local residents, again surrounding the twin issues of Anti-Social Behaviour and drug activity over a significant period of time.

PC Paul Slaymaker said: “In both instances the tenants had every opportunity to address their behaviour, having been informed of the negative impact it was having on the local community, but chose to ignore this guidance and continue to be a blight on the areas in which they were living”.

“Their evictions will show that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated and through the well-established multi-agency working practices between the police and housing it will be addressed and robust action will be taken.”
