KIDICAL Mass, Worcester City’s family-friendly monthly bike ride, is set to be part of the Worcester Carnival procession.
Supported by Bike Worcester, all ages and abilities are invited to come along and join in the fun on any type of bicycle, wheels or scooters.
Kids on balance bikes, with stabilisers, or sitting in a child seat or trailer, are all very welcome. The Kidical Mass colourful themed Carnival procession will gather at the Community Gardens on Pitchcroft at 2.30pm, ready for a 3pm start (enter the race-course via the Pump House end), before setting off on the procession through Worcester, with road closures and dedicated marshals’.
Bike Worcester expect to welcome around 100 adults and children on bicycles to celebrate active travel in Worcester, including the ‘Cycling Mayor’ of Worcester, Coun Louis Stephen, who will be joining in on his bike.
Participants are invited to wear colourful clothing and decorate their bikes, ring their bells and enjoy cycling along to music and the crowd support.
Chantal Pottage, is a member of Bike Worcester and volunteers on two school Bike Bus routes in the city.
“Our Carnival procession on bikes is a great way to highlight the opportunity to shift short city journeys from cars to bikes or walking, building on the City Council’s recently launched Active Travel Plan.
“We have grassroots experience of what’s working and not, for helping people get active with their travel.
“Bike Worcester are highlighting the priority improvements city residents need, especially providing a safe route for cycling through the city centre to make active travel safer and easier for everyone, whether it’s for commuting, going to school, or just for fun.”

Bike Worcester’s popular active travel initiatives include School Bike Buses and a Bike Recycling project with old bikes refurbished and going to people in need.
They have also set up the SHIFT scheme, where businesses are encouraged to make a small donation to charity for every kilometre cycled by employees.
Bike Worcester also support Kidical Mass, Worcester’s family-friendly monthly bike ride, which is part of a worldwide movement celebrating cycling. It calls on governments to invest in safe cycling infrastructure to make cycling easier and more pleasant for all cyclists, including children. Kidical Mass Bike ride events, followed by organised play and games, have been taking place in Worcester since last Summer.
Bike Worcester will also be at the Worcester Show on Sunday, August 13 with a stand sharing experiences of cycling and welcomes volunteers to join them.
