A MAJOR charity fund-raiser has become the latest to leave Sixways for pastures new after organisers confirmed this year’s Big Worcester Sleep Out would take place at New Road.
The move follows the recent decision of the Worcester Warriors Foundation to move into premises at Worcester’s Royal Porcelain Works on Severn Street.
The Foundation, the charity wing of the club, has been based at Sixways since being set up by former owner Cecil Duckworth 15 years ago.
In a show of support, the Big Worcester Sleep Out will move its 2023 fund-raising bid from Sixways to Worcestershire County Cricket Club’s historic home.
In a statement, the cause said: “We fully support Carol Hart, CEO of the Foundation and her team with their decision and their future plans for the Foundation.
“We know this decision was not taken lightly but was one which had the Foundation’s best interests at heart; one of which being to keep the legacy of Cecil Duckworth alive.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank Carol and her team, for working tirelessly over a very challenging time to not only secure the future of the Foundation but to secure a new venue for the Sleep Out.
“We would also like to thank to team at WCCC for welcoming us to the ground.
Further news regarding this year’s fund-raiser will be released in the coming weeks.
