A FORMER Worcester teacher will become one of the oldest managers at a major international sporting event this summer – at 80 years of age.
Dina Murdie, who taught PE at New College Worcester for 10 years before retiring before the turn of the century, has been appointed as a competition manager for goalball at the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) World Games.
The landmark event is taking place at the University of Birmingham and other nearby venues between August 14 and August 27.
“Although I’m too old to officiate at a high level I am still teaching the next generation of goalball officials, and to be asked to support the IBSA World Games as a competition manager is an honour,” said Dina, who has officiated at previous IBSA World Games in Turkey and Seoul.
