A SPECIALIST animal rescue team was deployed in Alvechurch after reports of a horse stuck in a stable.

Firefighters from Redditch and Pershore’s specialist animal rescue team were called out to a set of stables on Radford Road at 11.49am on Tuesday March 28.

The cob, in his 20s and weighing around 600kg, was helped back to his feet by the rescue teams and the support of a load-all digger.

The horse named ‘George’ was left in the care of a veterinarian.

The fire service rescue teams left the scene about 2.27pm the same day.

A Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “Pershore’s specialist large animal rescue team had one chance to save George and they nailed it. Top job.

“Thanks to Alan and his Load-all too.”
