Worcester Editorial 29th Mar, 2023   0

COUNTY sports coaches are invited to learn about mental health and wellbeing in sport and physical activity, in the latest event from Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire’s new Coaching Academy, run in partnership with the University of Worcester.

The event will take place on Tuesday (April 4) from 5.30pm to 8pm, at the University of Worcester Arena, with light refreshments available.

It will feature a panel of sporting experts, including ex professional cricketer, coach and author Paul Smith; former England start and Southampton FC women head coach Marieanne Spacey-Cale and Stew Kingscott, producer of BBC Hereford and Worcester’s podcast series on men’s mental health and wellbeing.

Bronwyn Stubbings, project officer at Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire, said: “This event will provide a great opportunity for coaches, volunteers, organisations and anyone interested in this subject to hear from three great panellists and network with local, clubs and coaches.

The new coaching academy was developed to support local sports coaches and volunteers, providing opportunities for the sports workforce from different sporting disciplines to take part in workshops on a host of different topics, as well as to network and share best practice with others from across the region.
