'Pool of blood' leads officers to force entry to Worcester house

A MAN has been taken to hospital after a serious head injury left a ‘large pool of blood’ in a Warndon alleyway.

Police forced their way into his property after discovering the blood in an alleyway at the top of Stanway Close yesterday (Monday) morning.

After an investigation amid fears a person’s welfare was at risk, a mobile phone was found by a member of the public nearby.

More blood was then found in the alleyway linking Stanway Close and Winchcombe Drive. Officers identified the owner of the phone and attended his home to check on his welfare.

PC Allan Figueiredo said: “There was more blood found on the path near to the front door of the property. Officers attempted to raise the occupant inside but were unable to and so entry was forced into the property.

“Inside a male was located with a nasty head injury in a semi-conscious and confused state.

“At this stage we believe the male had sustained his injuries as a result of a fall at the stairs located in the alleyway at the top of Stanway Close.

“There is currently no criminal investigation into the matter.”
