TRAVEL ALERT - Underground electrical fault could see The Butts closed until Monday

Worcester Editorial 18th Jan, 2023 Updated: 18th Jan, 2023   0

THE BUTTS could be closed until Monday (January 23) after an underground electrical fault forced the road to be dug up.

That’s the claim from First Bus which has seen its services severely affected because of the closure of the city centre road close to the Hive.

All First buses are unable to turn right out of the bus station until further notice. According to the bus giant this is ‘likely to be ongoing until the 23rd of January’.

Services 36 and 144 into Worcester are able to operate normally. Services out of the city are using Bridge Street, North Parade, North Quay, Croft Road, Castle Street to The Tything. The bus stop at Foregate Street is not able to served.

Passengers using the 34,35,38 and X38 have been advised the services are using All Saints Road, Deansway, City Walls Road, St. Martin’s Gate and Pheasant Street to resume normal route at Lowesmoor.

Sansome Street bus stop is not able to be served. These services are being further delayed by the closure of Lowesmoor and the roadworks on St. Nicholas’ Street.

Meanwhile the 30,31,31A,44,363,417,420 services are ok out of the City Centre, however diverting towards Worcester via Deansway, City Walls Road and St. Nicholas’ Street. These services are being further delayed due to the roadworks on St. Nicholas’ Street.

The 32, 45 and X50 services are not diverted in any way but will be experiencing heavy delay due to extra congestion on Deansway.

There is also a possibility of further delays to services due to a lane closure on Bridge Street in Worcester City Centre.

“We are expecting extremely severe delays to all services in and around Worcester City Centre during peak times while these are ongoing,” a spokesperson said.
