RUNNERS flocked to the 5k Worcester Parkrun to pay tribute to longstanding regular and volunteer Johnathan Fligelstone who died shortly before Christmas.

More than 60 runners from Malvern Joggers – which Jon was a member of were among the runners in heavy rain, wind and mud last Saturday.

Fligelstone was a regular at the Worcester Parkrun having completed it more than 120 times whilst being a run leader at Malvern Joggers and a regular attendee at the club’s Wednesday night social runs.

Malvern Joggers’ Chair Warwick Taylor said, “We were all devastated to hear of Jon’s death before Christmas, and wanted to do something to remember him and to celebrate his life – and there was perhaps no more fitting tribute to him than to do something Jon loved – run Worcester Parkrun.”

Malvern Joggers member and Worcester Parkrun volunteer Carl Nichols said: “He was a lovely and welcoming man.”

Jonathan’s funeral took place on Thursday at the Chapel, Great Malvern Cemetery.
