Semi-detached is a three piece band who grew up in Worcester. They are Rod Howell, Tadge Szestak and Phil Pike.

Rod Howell, the band’s keyboard player said: “We are deeply shocked and saddened by Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine. We wanted to create something that expressed our solidarity with the people of Ukraine, and at the same time we wanted to raise awareness and money for UNITED24, a charity set up by President Zelensky to provide much needed aid to the country.

“All proceeds raised through downloads or streaming of the single will go to the charity”.

He continued: “The song’s vocal sample is a reconstruction of the reply that Ukrainian soldiers on Snake Island gave to a Russian Warship that was threatening them.

“For those who understand Russian, we should warn that some very robust words are used, and parental discretion is advised.

“We hope on it’s release next week lots of people will download the single and share the link to the song widely with friends.”
