WORCESETER’S most prolific author with eight city-related books published in nine years will be signing copies of his top sellers in the Tourist Information Centre this weekend.
Ex-RGS, former journalist, and one-time press officer Bob Blandford – aka Bob Backenforth – is the author of three books to date on the history of 656 known Worcester pubs over the past 500 years alongside the history of Worcester city Police and the inside tales of Worcester City and County Gaols.
He will be on hand on Saturday (December 17) between 11am and 1pm and can also boast three further works bringing together the daily blogs posted to his 7,000-member Facebook Page ‘Bob Backenforth’s Worcester Secrets’ between July 2019 and October this year.
His latest 3-volume box set ‘1001 Worcester Secrets’ is already on course to be the city’s top seller this Christmas while his nine-year tally numbers nearly 4,000 pages and well in excess of 2,000,000 words.
“Worcester people have a fascination for the City’s history and a thirst for little known facts that go beyond the usual stuff that’s been dragged out of the same tired old history books” he said.
Also in varying stages of production are Spike II continuing the often violent world of Worcester City police up to its merger with others forces to form West Mercia Constabulary in 1967; possibly three more books on the history of Worcester 500-year love affair with its pubs, and others including more in the ‘Secrets’ series.
