IN PICTURES: How Worcester's streets resounded to all the fun of the Fayre

A CHANCE to step back in time was on offer when Worcester’s Victorian Christmas Fayre returned to the city.

Now in its 30th year, the fayre offered visitors more than 150 stalls – all offering the sights, smells and sounds of how Christmas might have looked 150 years ago.

Seasonal stalls were in place in High Street, Cathedral Square, Pump Street, New Street, Cornmarket and – for the first time – The Shambles.

Visitors enjoyed festive traditions like roasted chestnuts and mulled wine, and were able to pick up locally-crafted unique festive gifts.

There was also a host of street entertainment, including stilt-walkers and appearances by beloved characters from Victorian fiction including Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson, and Scrooge from Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.
