Putting it in writing

AN INTRODUCTION to the world of work was on offer when Year 11 students at Bishop Perowne CE College met with representatives from local businesses and industry to take part in a CV writing workshop.

The students had been working on their CVs in their tutor times and had the chance to meet with local business representatives. The professionals gave their advice and feedback on ways to improve their CVs before applying for College/Sixth Form, and part time jobs this year.

A number of members of local industry were represented at the workshop, including Mazak, Veevo Defence, Southco, Collins Aerospace, Build a Career, DWP, Hewlett Recruitment, New College Worcester, arrangeMy and Worcestershire Apprenticeships.

Jane Price, headteacher at Bishop Perowne CE College, said: “The students found it a really helpful and informative day and it was fabulous to have so many different members of local industry represented. Our year 11 students are at a pivotal time in their lives and their school career, and the CV writing workshop will help our students take their next steps with confidence and success.

“Preparing our students for the future is at the heart of everything we do at Bishop Perowne.

“Our CV writing workshop is just one of many initiatives that encourage our students to think about what they want to do when they leave school. Other initiatives include an annual careers fair, Dragon’s Den competition judged by local business leaders, the year 10 work experience week, and our wonderful careers advice team.

“We’d like to thank all the organisations that came to the workshop and took the time to give their valuable feedback.”
