COOLER temperatures are beginning to move across Worcester as the intense heat of yesterday and today (Tuesday) begins to move away.

West Midlands Ambulance Service has reported a rise in the number of heat-related calls in the past few days to both the 999 and 111 services.

Callers have asked about issues, such as sunburn, heat stroke, barbecue burns, dehydration, breathing difficulties and from people enjoying the outdoors who are ill prepared.

Commuters also faced disruption on the railways with West Midlands Railway advising against all but essential travel due to the extreme heat.

A cooler but mainly dry rest of the week is expected with more cloud expected and temperatures back to their expected late July highs of the mid to late 20 degrees celsius.

As the heat built we sent our photographer Marcus Mingins out to see how Worcester was faring in the intense heat
