Here's why a busy stretch of the M5 will be closed tonight

Worcester Editorial 20th Apr, 2022   0

MOTORISTS using the M5 have been warned the motorway will be closed southbound tonight (Wednesday).

The road will be closed from 8pm until 7am tomorrow (Thursday) between junctions 6 and 7 as part of ongoing works to replace the central reservation barriers.

A long stretch of the road has been coned off in recent weeks with an average speed limit of 50mph to protect workers on site.

Highways West Midlands anticipate works on replacing the barriers with a new concrete structure will continue until 2023.

Improved lighting and drainage will also form part of the work which is estimated to be completed by the spring of next year.
