FUND-RAISERS were on fine form at a black-tie dinner and silent auction which raised a staggering £60,485 for children and families.

The event at Teme Valley was held in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice and its care for life limited and life threatened children and their families

Organised by Michael Timmis, patron of the charity’s Founder’s Club, ‘La Teme de la Crème’ aimed to raise £30,000 for Acorns, but generous donors more than doubled that amount.

“The care that is given by our local Acorns hospice in Worcester is outstanding. We thought we’d be able to raise a reasonable sum but never dreamed the final total would be anything like the amount raised,” he said.

“Thanks to the enthusiastic support of everyone who joined us and the desire to help out this wonderful charity, we have far exceeded our fund-raising target.”

Mr Timmis, joined by event supporters Caspar Tiarks and Nick Cant, was welcomed to Acorns for the Three Counties where he presented a cheque to Acorns chief executive Toby Porter and Area Fund-raiser Mel Hall.
