A TALENTED young writer has put pen to paper and published her first book, at just 11 years old.

Bethany Lunney’s talent was spotted by her year six teacher who suggested her story ‘Goodbye Granny Rose’ should be published.

But the caring youngster has not stopped there as together with the launch of the book at the Co-Operative book store in Malvern, she will also be raising funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Bethany will be on hand on November 13 from 11am to 2pm for a book signing as she bids to raise cash for the much loved county hospice.

Goodbye Granny Rose tells the tale of Jade Macintosh who lives with her gran in their cosy cottage in Islay.

Living off the land and walking on the beach every day, what could be nicer? But when Jade’s gran falls silent and then ill, who will look after Jade?

Bethany lives with her mum and dad and little brother Patrick who shares the same birthday as his big sister just five years apart.

When not writing, the talented youngster admits to a passion for swimming and dog walking. Her creative side is never too far away though as she loves doodling, sewing, making films.

“I would love to live in a cottage like Jade’s when I am older, right by the ocean and beach,” she said.

“This may be because my dream job is to become a marine biologist.”
