Poppies back on West Mercia Police vehicles ahead of Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday

Worcester Editorial 17th Oct, 2021   0

WEST Mercia Police vehicles will have red poppies on them again this year, ahead of next month’s Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday commemorations.

The force’s chief officers have funded the poppies and they will be put onto the vehicles shortly with help from the West Midlands Police cadets.

It was four years ago when Sgt Lee Baker, from West Mercia Police’s ARV unit, had the idea after seeing a superintendent in Lincolnshire who had placed the emblem on the force’s cars up there.

As well as paying tribute to those who lost their lives in the two World Wars and other conflicts, officers also hope it will help educate people of the importance of remembering those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
