Music and song on offer at Cripplegate this Sunday

A ST JOHN’s county councillor has thrown his support behind Cripplegate Park’s first Bands in the Park event.

Coun Richard Udall has dug deep to back the free concert on Sunday (July 18) from 2pm which will see local group Polkadot Robot take to the stage.

The group are well known for their cover versions of chart hitting music from the 70’s, 80’s and the 90’s and drinks and refreshments will be available from the Sons of Rest.

“I have agreed to sponsor the first the Bands in the Park event in Cripplegate for 2021, it’s been a difficult year and a half, without much cheer, so I thought we needed a bit of a party,” he said.

“The event is free and open to everyone.  I urge people to come along and dance, of course I hope and expect everyone will comply with social distancing rules, but that should not prevent everyone having a good time.

“The sun will be shining and the music will be great and the park will be a place of fun and enjoyment, bring a picnic, have an ice cream and dance the afternoon away to some excellent music; we are bringing the fun back to St John’s,” Coun Udall added.

Bands in the Park will continue in Cripplegate Park every Sunday afternoon during the summer school holidays, with other bands and styles of music being provided every week.
