Baby taken to hospital for surgery after M5 incident

A BABY was taken to hospital for emergency surgery after the car he was travelling in left the M5 carriageway.

Witnesses are being sought in relation to the incident which saw the Mercedes A 200 D AMG leave the southbound carriageway between junction 6 and 7 at about 7pm on Saturday (April 10).

The driver was uninjured, the front passenger received minor injuries and the one-year-old passenger was taken to the Children’s Hospital at the Queen Elizabeth in Birmingham for emergency surgery.
