SPRING has sprung for two county musicians with the news the National Lottery Community Fund has awarded them a £10,000 grant.
Ebony Clay and Andy Teece are two experienced rock musicians who now manage Melody Maker CIC.
And this week they were delighted to learn Melody Maker had been awarded the funding.
Melody Maker will now plan, film, edit and upload up to 40 short videos offering instruction to help people to learn to play the guitar. These videos will be freely available on-line to anyone, but Ebony and Andy will try to ensure that organisations supporting vulnerable adults are fully engaged with the project.
“As well as the videos we are planning to offer on-line 1:1 coaching sessions for particularly vulnerable adults who may still be shielding, or who may not have the confidence to begin to mix freely if social distancing measures are lifted soon,” Ebony said.
Both Ebony and Andy are committed to the idea of trying to ensure as many local people as possible begin to explore and enjoy musical skills they were not aware they possessed.
This project is another success for Keith Slater and Community Boost, the company which helps as many local organisations as possible to access grant funding.
This award now means Community Boost has been able to generate well over £1.5million in grant funding with a sizeable amount of the figure benefitting community groups in Worcester.
Andy, Ebony and Keith are in total agreement that the voluntary and community sector are going to be key players in helping many people come out of lockdown and its long term implications.
Equally important though is the fact that these organisations will need support and it is the size of grants like this one, for Melody Maker, to the value of £10,000 that will make a huge difference to how successful many of these community organisations can become.
