COUNTY council chiefs have launched a new round of funding for charities and organisations to make a difference in their communities.
The County Council, along with Malvern and Wychavon district councils, set up Crowdfund Worcestershire as it was keen to build on the success of its Here2Help community campaign.
Crowdfund Worcestershire gives residents who have ideas about how to improve their community, the opportunity to gain much needed funding.
More than 1,200 residents, businesses and other organisations have come together alongside the council to get behind 41 ideas, with more than £200,000 raised across the county. This has included a Dementia meeting centre and a Bicycle-Bus that will help children get to and from school.
Coun Lucy Hodgson, the county council’s cabinet member for Communities, said: “We’ve been delighted with the community’s response so far to Crowdfund Worcestershire.
“Now it’s time for the second round of funding and we want to hear from anyone who has an idea so that this wonderful platform can help make it a reality.
“We’re also calling on companies and foundations to join us in offering support – whether funding or in-kind – to the ideas people post on the platform so we can work together to make them a real success. The more people that get involved in Crowdfund Worcestershire, the more amazing places we can create together.”
The County Council has allocated a dedicated fund of £85,000 for projects taking part in the programme, with pledges of up to £20,000 available.
